In this term, a general contractor usually acts as the manager of the home improvement project. In the other words, a general contractor provides an access to the site, removes the debris of the home, organizes the home improvement schedules, and shows some aspects of the work. Often, people, who hire a general contractor, also hire the plumbers, electrician, and roofers from the same construction company.
In the other term, there are also people who do the home improvement by themselves. In this case, the owner is the person who supervises, organizes, and keeps the home improvement projects lonely. The disadvantage of this term is the owners become busier because they have to handle all the home improvement projects by themselves.
